Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again. Rejoice! *Philippians 4:4
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. *Philippians 4:8
Monday mornings are tough. It’s hard to wake up happy and carefree with the list of tasks ahead for the week. Many of our tasks are burdensome and they weigh us down. Life is full of burdens. We can become overloaded with the busy-ness of life. The disappointments of life can weigh us down so heavily, our hearts literally hurt. The Bible tells us to rejoice in the Lord…..ALWAYS. Not just when we feel like it, when things are going good, but ALWAYS. The way to find a rejoicing spirit is found in Philippians 4:8. Fix your thoughts! Our thoughts are powerful over our lives. We can become enslaved by them in a heartbeat. They control our actions, our attitudes, and our character. Fixing your thoughts on things that are honorable, pure…..things worthy of praise. When we do this, we are able to see God’s blessings in our lives. Those burdens become opportunities to serve. It’s all about your outlook. One of my favorite sayings in life is: Happiness doesn’t mean everything is perfect. It means you have chosen to look beyond the imperfections. Will your day be perfect? No way. Will everything go as planned? Maybe not. Will you have to deal with those around you who are miserable and are determined for you to join them? Probably so. But our joy is found in Christ and His love for us. Don’t let your happiness be someone else’s responsibility. If you wait for the circumstances of life to be just so before finding your joy, hope, and happiness……well, you will be waiting forever. And God holds all of these things in His hand. They are there for us, even amidst the turmoil of life. Focus on the things of God, the blessings of life, and look past the imperfections of your day. Remember, this too shall pass. Don’t let the burdens of life define you. God created you for so much more than that. On this Monday, go out into the world, be a light for Christ…….and REJOICE!!
